CYCLING AROUND THE WORLD

My Location
ABOUT THE PROJECT
THE RECORD

ABOUT

For me going for the record is just a bonus, if I can make it- GREAT! If not, I will be the first Slovenian ever to cycle the world, regarding the official rules. There is no bad scenario! However if I manage to do this, I will become the youngest person ever to cycle the world. I have to mention that Guinness World Records do not recognize the “youngest” category, so this is unofficial. But The World Record academy, which has unlimited categories, does. And this is what I’m going for!

CURRENT RECORD

The current record for fastest circumnavigation is held by Tom Davies, a 19 year old from the UK. He completed his journey in 205 days on August 10th 2015, when he was 19 years and 314 days old. If I make it back home at least by March 4th, 2016 I will have 19 years and 313 days, which means I will set a new record and become the youngest person ever to cycle the world.

RULES

The official guidelines for cycling around the world are:

1. The same bike (frame) must be used throughout unless it’s damaged beyond repair.

2. No drafting.

3. Start and finish points must be the same.

4. The journey should be continual and in one direction. Any considerable distance travelled opposite to the direction of the attempt will be discounted from final calculations of distance travelled.

5. The total distance travelled (by plane,boat,bike- anything) must exceed the length of the equator – 40.075km. The total distance travelled by bike must exceed 28.970km.

6. Use of private or chartered transport (including taxis) is not permitted.

7. You must pass through two approximate antipodal points (opposite points on the Earth).
