I woke up a bit late, at 6.20am and started cycling at 7am. When I stepped outside it was cloudy, even though the forecast predicted it would be sunny and hot. Well, half an hour later it was. 30 degrees, UV level 13, the sunlight was so bright, that I would go blind if I had no sunglasses. When I arrived to Lake King I only found a small motel there. The prices for one night stay for tourists were just ridiculous! I am on short with cash so I couldn’t afford to sleep there. I had 120 kilometers to the closest town where I could get a place to sleep. That was too far. I didn’t know what to do really. I left the motel, and the owner was looking at me, thinking I will come back, because there is no other place to sleep nearby. Without accommodation I started thinking what to do. I saw that it’s harvesting season, so people that help on the fields must sleep somewhere. So I went to the harvest company and asked where they sleep. A friendly guy there offered me a place to stay the night for free! I offered him a beer in return and that is how you do business! Sometimes, being broke isn’t that bad- I had a good night sleep and it was for free! There are still some good and friendly people on this planet!
