Day 171: In Buri-Bangkok

January 27, 2016Tomaz Humar

I pedaled all day in strong headwind, but I had no choice, I had to finish before the dark. When I reached my daily goal, I disassembled the bicycle, ate something and printed my visa. This was the hottest day in SE Asia so far, around 40 degrees. Again I had a problem finding a suitable box for my bike. They had no boxes at the airport. I also tried at the nearest bicycle shop, but no luck. Later I found a couple of smaller boxes and modified them so my bike could fit. A box like this would never and under no conditions be accepted in Europe. Yoo, my host in Thailand, was unbelievably helpful! He arranged me a van at 1am to pick me up and take me to the airport, and he paid for it too. When I arrived to the airport, I made the check in which took me ages, then I paid the oversize baggage fee, went through immigration customs and almost missed the flight. Good day!
