Day 201: Edirne-Sredets

February 27, 2016Tomaz Humar

I woke up at 7am, started cycling at 8am. It was really cold, and windy. The road towards the border was going up and down again. While you go up, you sweat, and on the way down you almost freeze! Crossed the border with no problems, the guy at the window said “Dober dan”, which means “hello” in slovene. So there I was in Bulgaria, the roads got a bit worse, and the forecast was rain all day. And so it was. Heavy rain, 4 degrees and hills. It was a blast I tell you! Found a motel next to the road, got a decent room. When I was taking a shower, I was standing under hot water, but at the same time I was freezing, shaking. Something was wrong, I became dizzy and sick. I laid down for a bit. Next thing I know, I was throwing up on the other side of the bed, couldn’t make it to the toilet. Afterwards I feel asleep and slept for 12 hours, not moving. It was a super hard day.
